Transform Cymru: A sustainable transport vision for a post-lockdown Wales

The coronavirus lockdown has forced people to change the way they live their lives, leaving the house only for a few, very specific, reasons. Whilst this has hit the transport sector hard as people work from home and stay in their own community, it represents a reset point where we have the opportunity to bring about lasting change in a way we could not have imagined a few months ago.

We know that this is a pivotal moment in our history and some of the changes we have made now, will stay with us for a lifetime. Whilst we recognise that the current public health crisis creates significant challenges for the transport sector, we believe that there is also a major opportunity to drive modal shift and change the way we travel for the benefit of our future.

Transform Cymru promotes a vision where communities across Wales are connected through a sustainable, affordable, inclusive and safe transport network which meets the needs of all passengers regardless of age, background or ability.

As a coalition, we are committed to working with Welsh Government, Transport for
Wales and Local Authorities to make this a reality for the people of Wales. In order to achieve our vision, we are calling for authorities to commit to the 7 steps outlined in our report which you can download (in English and Welsh) via the link below.
